All Lives Matter

This country needs to be the country we claim to be. If we were there would be no need for "Black Lives Matter". Black people are being killed for reasons we shouldn't be killed for. And everyone should feel the emptiness and the soulful pain Blacks feel. Think about this.

Do Americans Deserve What America Is Becoming?

Driving from Parma, Idaho to Boise is a fifty minute, forty mile drive one way. I drive it round trip, twice a week. Therefore, I get a lot of time to think and talk to myself.

Gut Check Time America

The time has come for everyone who calls themselves an American to do what we used to call in football, a gut check. Every coach I ever had taught us about reaching deep down inside ourselves to find out who we really are.

Praying Black in America

When the night is at its darkest and my world is black as can be, I see in the distance, a pin of light, rudely staring at me. I wonder if it’s getting closer, for the Lord’s sake what could it be? The truth, I understand, doesn’t really make a difference when it comes to me.

Racism Aches Deeply

My soul is tired and my eyes run like a river. Violence and hatred uncontrollably spins our world. It's shear force throws our society so far off course that we will never again be centered enough to love, live and let live. I ache deeply, like a hopeless romantic watching a sad movie.

Racism is Americas Original Virus

I got a call this morning from an old friend. He is a White guy in his 50’s. He called to see if my two sons are okay. He told me to tell my sons if they need anything to call him. My sons have White blood-relatives and none of them have made the call my old neighbor made.

A Letter from God

What God would tell us if He were to personally write a letter to every adult in this country? Would each letter say something different? I imagine He, being a master of words, would include poetry. Being a God of wisdom and love, His spirit would flow through the letter like the waters which flow through the oceans and seas.

A Perfectly Good Excuse

Matthew 5:48 says, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” During my journey, I have learned how difficult it is to do what’s right. I’ve learned how difficult it is to be perfect. I’ve especially learned I’m not perfect and never will be perfect.

Forgiveness: What does it mean?

The dictionary says to forgive is, to grant pardon for or remission of and resentment against an offense or debt. So, if we truly forgive someone, we are supposed to wipe the slate clean. In Matthew 18: 21-22 when Peter asked Jesus how often to forgive, Jesus said, "I say not unto thee, until seven times but, until seventy times seven.”

Family Reunions

There are places we should be able to go that should bring peace to our hearts. I’m only speculating but ‘The Garden of Eden’ I’m betting was such a place until all hell broke loose. Last time I wrote about the ‘Rat Race’.

Invasion From Within

In my desk I have a collection of things that I think are stupid. Here are a couple examples. In 2005 I overpaid Qwest Communications on a phone bill and they sent me a check for $.01. Yes, they spent $.37 to send me one cent. I didn’t cash it.

Jesus said “Go”, not gather.

Some people have pity parties. I have pity gala affairs! But now, I'm out of my funk with a new plan. In fact we all should have a new plan because a new evil is amongst us. Although I don't sound like it a lot of the time, I am a believer in Jesus Christ.

So You Don’t See Color?

Part 1

Before I say what I really want to say, I need readers to understand something. I think teaching is one of the most important professions in our society. It is also an endeavor of sacrifice and nobility. That is why it has to be just and true. I respect those teachers who are truly professionals.

So You Don’t See Color?

Part 2

Sen. Bill Bradley is credited with saying, “If you have never had a serious conversation about race with someone of a different race, then, you’re the problem.” Because of the increasing number of students of color in America’s school system and the high number of White teachers…

So You Don’t See Color?

Part 3

My desire for these articles become tools that will initiate better communication / better teaching, between White teachers and students of color, by initiating communication between teachers and administrators. If administrators do not understand the communication problem between…
