Do Americans Deserve what America is becoming?

Driving from Parma, Idaho to Boise is a fifty minute, forty mile drive one way. I drive it roundtrip, twice a week. Therefore, I get a lot of time to think and talk to myself. Today I asked myself, do Americans deserve what America is becoming? In my mind there’s no doubt, America is changing right under our noses. There was a time, the war on racism and poverty, were our biggest forms of oppression. Now, America is inundated with not only racism and poverty, but we are dealing with new forms of oppression; such as the threat of political dictatorship, mothers having to deal with their children being imprisoned, healthcare, the high cost of medicine and having our social security benefits taken away, because someone decided it’s an entitlement instead of benefits we paid for. And the saddest aspect of all of these social problems is no one is trying to solve any of them. Instead, it seems that politicians are trying to find a way to profit from our loss. Slowly but surely, I’ve noticed, we are now trying to become one with those who seek to do us harm. We are starting to hurt, cheat and kill each other, at what seems like a higher rate and what seems like for dumber reasons. Oppressors love it when the oppressed begin to turn on each other. At some point we must learn oppressing oneself always works in favor of the primary oppressor.
It would be simple to trace society’s ills back to their roots by saying the love of money is the root of all of America’s evils. But I think we all understand this to be only somewhat factual. I think America’s problems are deeper than saying; the devil made Americans no longer care about one another. I’m going to go in a different direction. I’m going to lay the blame at the feet of the people we elected to do what’s right for the people of this country. I don’t know if our political system has become antiquated or these politicians are just stupid. Either way, they aren’t doing what we elected them to do. They aren’t doing what’s best for the people of America. They do what’s best for a particular party. They do what’s best for rich, giant corporations. They do what’s best for the riches one percent. They even do what’s best for them. The politicians we elected are our oppressors. So, the next questions must be, are they and their actions causing many Americans to act as un-American as they seem to be acting. These are our so called elected leaders?
America seems to be heading in the wrong direction, when it comes to the welfare of the people. And now the people; instead of working together to free ourselves from oppression, we fight each and are becoming like those who oppress us. And in doing such, we help to develop a system, by the rule of oppression; will eventually crush the spirit of what America was meant to be. There has always been a segment of Americans who have revolted against this country’s leaders overstepping their authority. But something different is going on here. Those in charge of this brand of tyranny seem to be giving the oppressed permission to the voiceless amongst us. This revolt only causes chaos. Chaos is the enemy of organized rebellion. The oppressor sits and watches, understanding that mimicking ones oppressor, never releases the oppressed from their tyranny. There is method to the madness, for true oppression is always methodical.
So, do Americans deserve what America is becoming? Unfortunately, the answer is yes. We the people of America are allowing the people we elected to do harm and oppress the least of us, not understanding that someday soon, the same oppression will happen to us. When Americans allow hate to become fashionable, Americans have become naked of humanity and consciousness. Every dictatorship around the world is waiting for this to happen to America.
